Floating Market in Bangkok
Remember bumper cars? Floating markets are kind of like that – too many people in too many boats, bouncing off each other in the water, chattering, and then looking for another boat to head for. In these markets, the water churns with wooden canoe-like boats carrying vendors selling anything from food to clothing to art. Shoppers travel in these boats too, and when you don’t speak the same language there’s lots of bumping, gesturing and laughing.
I still don’t know what this woman was selling, but we pointed and then we ate it and it was wonderful. Even if she had been selling water snake to eat raw, I would have pointed and thanked her, just to share her joy in such a simple exchange.
